About the Branch/Group

The Business Operations Services division manages critical processes and services, providing end-to-end support for shared services customers. The Business Operations Services division is a centralised hub of expertise and leverages shared platforms and standardised processes to deliver high performing services to government and customers.

 

About the Role

 

The Victorian Government is taking action to transition to net zero emissions by 2045, and this includes a suite of initiatives to facilitate fleet decarbonisation and optimisation in support of a centralised fleet management model which will underpin the transition of the government fleet to zero emissions vehicles (ZEVs).

To deliver on these initiatives, VicFleet is seeking an experienced Fleet Disposals Manager to lead the disposal delivery operations including transport to auction, decommissioning, rectifications and reporting to ensure optimal asset returns through accountable and transparent processes.

The occupant of this position will have extensive fleet operational management / disposal expertise, operational management of disposal contractor, knowledge of vehicles and understanding of vehicle market. Experience in the Government sector would be highly regarded but not essential.

The position will enable the occupant to display their broad range of skills in operational fleet management, stakeholder engagement, outcomes delivery, time management, data analytics and interpersonal skills.

The occupant of this position will be required to travel to disposal points to supervise the disposal program, ensure contracts are being adhered to, best practice is achieved, probity and accountability is maintained to achieve VicFleet and the Government’s objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the day-to-day disposals operations including decommissioning, rectification and getting vehicles ready for sale at the auction house and in the office.
  • Deliver the disposal financial commitments and key income actions through increased accountability in accordance with government legislation, policies and procedures to meet VicFleet business objectives.
  • Act as the clients’ representative by liaising with disposal contractor to facilitate optimal asset returns including developing and implementing effective marketing disposal strategies.
  • Measure weekly performance on auction house and strategically implement changes to achieve best sales results.
  • Support the VicFleet branch and Business Operations Services division as required.

 

About You

We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria:

  • Extensive experience in the motor vehicle industry, particularly related to the used vehicle market, government vehicle acquisition, decommissioning, inspection and rectification and various disposal programs.
  • Extensive experience overseeing the disposal of fleet vehicles, including review of reserve prices and auction disposal process.
  • Extensive experience identifying operational risks, think analytically with knowledge of process improvements and change management.
  • Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to analyse data and information and produce high-quality written reports and presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work productively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
