The VicFleet Branch
VicFleet is a business unit within the Business Operations Services division and provides whole of Victorian Government services to departments and agencies including: vehicle leasing; insurance; vehicle registration; fleet management; short term vehicle hire; and vehicle disposal.

About the role
The Victorian Government is taking action to transition to net zero emissions by 2045, and this includes a suite of initiatives to facilitate fleet decarbonisation and optimisation in support of a centralised fleet management model which will underpin the transition of the government fleet to zero emissions vehicles (ZEVs).

This position presents an exciting opportunity to support the effective management and optimisation of the government motor vehicle fleet, and contribute to an increase in the uptake of ZEVs in the government fleet to achieve the Government agenda to move towards zero emissions. This position contributes towards a safe, efficient and compliant fleet operations; evidence-based fleet planning and utilisation; fleet optimisation and demand management, improved environmental performance and a more centralised fleet management approach in the government fleet. 

The VicFleet Services Coordinator works extensively with internal stakeholders, external departments and agencies, procurement and vendors to improve fleet visibility around vehicle usage, replacement and zero emission vehicle transition planning.

Experience in the Government sector would be highly regarded, however not essential.

Key Accountabilities  

  • Coordinate fleet optimisation initiatives to support a more centralised fleet model - Support the optimisation of VicFleet operational processes by identifying practical opportunities to streamline and improve day-to-day service operations. Contribute to the implementation of consistent, centralised and efficient workflows between VicFleet, and departments and agencies, with a focus on improving fleet utilisation and operational performance in line with fleet policy and reform objectives.
  • Collaborate with government agencies to deliver ZEV transition initiatives – Work collaboratively with internal VicFleet team members and external stakeholders to support the effective and consistent delivery of fleet optimisation and ZEV transition initiatives. Provide operational guidance, support issue identification and resolution, and assist staff, departments and agencies to apply VicFleet processes effectively. Strong collaboration supports service reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the rollout, integration and effective use of fleet optimisation tools – Support departments and agencies to integrate and practically apply fleet optimisation tools, including telematics and fleet management systems, to achieve improved operational, safety, utilisation and sustainability outcomes. Support departments and agencies to translate data insights into practical guidance to inform decision-making, vehicle selection, performance monitoring and the transition to zero emission vehicles.
  • Prepare documentation including presentations, newsletters and reports for effective communication to senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Business Operations Services branch and VicFleet business unit as required.

Mandatory requirements

  • Experience supporting process improvement or operational optimisation activities, including implementing new procedures or supporting organisational change. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or significant experience in a similar role will be highly regarded.
