About the Role
The Senior Business Analyst serves as a critical link between business stakeholders and agile delivery squads. The primary purpose of this senior role is to ensure Department of Government Service’s operational and project objectives are met through the delivery of well-defined, high-value features. The position is responsible for analysing, documenting, and communicating business requirements and translating them into actionable user stories and technical specifications for projects such as the Fuel Finder System, Working with Children Check (WWCC) enhancements, the Business Profile portal, and various licences and transactions supporting other government agencies and entities.
The Senior Business Analyst also acts as a thought leader and mentor in the Business Analysis space for the Regulatory Technology area within DGS Digital Platforms. The role will help define how Business Analysis is done within the tribe and guide other Business Analysts on best practice.
The role also contributes to continuous service improvement by applying data analytics, user insights, and structured feedback to enhance service quality and delivery efficiency within the Agile framework.
Key Accountabilities
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings to support collaborative problem-solving and validate requirements and proposed solutions.
- Define, develop and maintain accurate documentation standards, including frameworks on how to produce business process maps, user stories, use cases, and other supporting artefacts to guide solution design and delivery.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document business requirements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business needs and user expectations.
About You
- Extensive experience in analysing business processes and systems, applying structured techniques to identify issues and opportunities, and providing practical recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with 7+ years’ experience in gathering requirements, preparing documentation, and engaging effectively with stakeholders.
- Experience contributing to team outcomes in project or agile delivery settings, sharing knowledge, and guiding colleagues to achieve shared objectives.
