About the Branch/Group
Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) is the state’s consumer marketplace regulator. The CAV team works to create a fair, safe and competitive marketplace whether that’s shopping, renting, property sales and motor car trading to engineers, fundraising, funerals and owners’ corporations.
CAV carry out regulatory functions, support Victorians to exercise their consumer rights and ensure that businesses and rental providers are doing the right thing.
The Regulatory Strategy Branch provides oversight, guidance and management of CAV’s strategic outcomes and regulatory priorities. The Regulatory Strategy Branch’s purpose is to ensure the successful delivery of these strategic outcomes and regulatory priorities, and achieve high impact regulatory outcomes by overseeing strategic project delivery. The role of the team is to develop and refine CAV’s regulatory frameworks, policies, and processes.
About the role
The Adviser, Regulatory Strategy and Governance is responsible for managing the development and monitoring of CAV’s regulatory priorities and compliance and enforcement policies, and managing key governance functions.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage and support the development of the CAV regulatory programs and priorities, develop and draft reports on CAV’s performance.
- Undertake research and analysis, draft and manage the implementation of operational policies and procedures to support CAV’s compliance and enforcement functions, including implementing new legislative or regulatory functions.
- Manage compliance and enforcement governance functions such as committee secretariat, internal reviews of official warnings and infringements, and exhibit management.
- Draft high-quality policies, reports, submissions, briefings, correspondence, and media content, ensuring compliance with internal standards for document management and tracking.
- Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships within the team and with both internal and external stakeholders.
About You
We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience from the following criteria:
- Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills applying regulatory frameworks to produce strategy and policy that supports compliance and enforcement decision making and operational planning.
- Experience in leading projects and programs of work to achieve organisational goals.
- Build and manage positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote information sharing and support the continuous improvement of strategy, policy and procedure.
- Ability to produce high quality written outcomes, including reports and recommendations for key decision makers based on supporting information and evidence with limited supervision.
- Experience working collaboratively with peers to produce outcomes and provide peer review and quality assurance to ensure high quality outcomes.
