About the role
The Finance Manager, Business Partnerships plays a key role in the development, implementation and maintenance of internal budgets, forecasts, significant financial reporting and compliance requirements for the Department and its associated Portfolio Agencies.
This position will support the provision of financial insight to drive strategy, performance and compliance, research and development of recommendations, options and solutions to financial accounting, budget and reporting issues, including complex financial policy implementation to designated client groups within the department and the broader portfolio. The successful applicant will be expected to act as a key liaison point for stakeholders and be a leader across the Department and within the Finance Branch.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Exceptional financial skills and demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial analysis and commercial modelling. This includes the ability to clearly articulate the financial implications of policy decisions and/or other transactions and the provision of advice to senior management on budget, commercial and financial management issues to facilitate strategic decision making.
- Ability to provide authoritative advice related to the Financial Management Act 1994, Standing Directions of the Minister for Finance (as updated and amended from time to time) and other obligations related to an Administrative Office as described in the Victorian Public Administration Act 2004.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and motivate a high performing team, set objectives, assign priorities, and deliver on-demand outcomes within a highly sensitive and complex environment.
- Demonstrated capability in stakeholder engagement and to create a climate of service excellence.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including in the preparation of submissions, reports, succinct briefings, and the ability to adapt communication of complex information to the needs of diverse audiences.
Mandatory requirements
- Accreditation as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) is required for this role.
