As our Senior Adviser, Strategic Communication, you’ll work with a high-performing team providing expert advice and leadership on best-practice communication and engagement planning and delivery for Consumer Affairs Victoria.
From high-profile announcements to roadshow events, your work will support major programs and reach diverse audiences to support a fair, safe and competitive marketplace in Victoria.
This involves working in partnership with a range of colleagues across policy, compliance and enforcement to ensure businesses and consumers receive the right messages, through the right channels, at the right time.

Key accountabilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality communication and engagement strategies and activities to improve Consumer Affairs Victoria’s reputation as a trusted and effective regulator.
- Help to provide leadership and mentorship to the team, as well as allocate responsibilities and coordinate the activities of direct reports, to successfully execute communication strategies and projects.
- Build effective working relationships within the division and with key business areas to identify stakeholder needs, interests and emerging issues, and provide analysis and recommendations that help ensure communication approaches are appropriate and responsive.
- Lead communications planning and delivery, including developing content for a range of channels and audiences, and managing stakeholder events, such as roadshows, forums and webinars.
- Practise cultural safety by helping to create environments, relationships and processes that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.
- Provide surge support for other priorities within the division where required.
Desired experience / qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in public relations and communication, or equivalent, and/or experience in a government communication role.
