The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services. 

About the role 
The Senior Finance Business Partner position will provide support and advice to clients in their strategic and operational decision making and in the effective management of their budgets. This includes leading on reporting for relevant portfolios, financial performance analysis, provision of costings as required, providing financial and management accounting advice, providing transactional support as required, and carrying out/leading others in the team to deliver service to clients. The role will also assist in ensuring that budget management policies and procedures are maintained and will assist in any project work to be carried out by the Business Partnerships team.

This position plays a key role in the provision of commercial financial insight to drive efficient performance and to maintain compliance with various regulations and accounting standards. You will be required to research and develop recommendations and solutions to financial accounting and reporting issues and to contribute to decision making based on accurate financial information.

About you 

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate: 

  • Demonstrated experience in a business partnering and management accounting role in a complex organisation.
  • Highly developed stakeholder relationship management skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed communication skills, including persuasive negotiation and the ability to express opinions, information, and key points clearly and concisely via effective verbal and written communication.
  • Sound conceptual and analytical skills to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions to solve business problems and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations, with a strong initiative and a ‘can do’ approach

Mandatory requirements

  • CA/CPA qualification.
  • Finance or Accounting Degree or equivalent.
  • Strong Business Partnering and Management Accounting background.
