About the group
The Consumer Affairs and Local Government Victoria group is responsible for policy development; regulatory design and administration; system and program design; and the delivery of services in the best interest of Victorians. Spanning both the Consumer Affairs and Local Government portfolios, the group identifies strategic priorities, drives system and regulatory reform and coordinates DGS’ emergency management responsibilities to improve practical outcomes for the community.
About the role
The Regulatory Transaction Services (RTS) provides business and occupational licensing and not-for-profit registration services to Victorians.
Reporting to the RTS Team Leader, Senior Regulatory Officers (SROs) are responsible for the timely and accurate processing of applications and other routine processes in line with statutory requirements for various licensing and registration schemes administered by CAV.
SROs also provide information to clients both verbally and in writing and accurately record information in CAV’s licensing and registration databases.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform more complex processing tasks associated with RTS’ regulatory activities ensuring accurate, timely and professional services are provided to regulatory clients (individuals and entities).
- Uses knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies and processes and exercises professional judgement in making decisions and shares ideas and experiences to contribute to RTS goals and targets.
- Prepare recommendations on more complex matters for consideration by others (such as the Business Licensing Authority or the Motor Car Traders Claims Committee).
- Conduct quality assessments of work conducted by RTS colleagues, ensuring that all relevant policies, procedures and business rules have been adhered to.
- Assist in both the maintenance and management of records and database workflows in accordance with RTS operational policy and departmental records management policies, procedures and business rules.
- Under the direction of Team Leaders and other relevant colleagues, assist with team development, quality assessment and business improvement activities as required.
- Effectively and efficiently respond to more complex enquiries and requests received from clients, regarding legislative requirements, pending applications and other processes and provide guidance to others on enquiries.
- Prepares more complex business correspondence, emails and reports based on RTS legislative and procedural knowledge.
- Working as part of a team, plan and manage own work priorities and output so as to achieve RTS targets and shared goals.
