About the role
A unique opportunity to take a lead role in a CAV Taskforce. The Taskforce Lead spearheads multi-disciplinary, integrated compliance project/s aimed at responding to Consumer Affairs Victoria’s (CAV’s) regulatory priorities, which typically elude standard or traditional approaches. The Taskforce Lead is responsible for delivering a well-coordinated and outcomes-focused approach to CAV’s priority regulatory projects.
The Taskforce Lead is a senior role within Regulatory Strategy, Compliance and Enforcement, and Consumer Affairs Victoria in general. As such, the role participates in the strategic thinking and planning that enables the branch to meet its stated objectives.
Leading a multi-disciplinary team, the Taskforce Lead is responsible for the planning, preparation and commencement of the Fair Fuel Taskforce, including liaison and coordination across the organisation and with key stakeholders. In addition to drawing on CAV’s integrated compliance approach, the Taskforce Lead will be also considering different approaches to regulation and compliance specific to Victoria’s consumer protection and fair trading laws. The Taskforce Lead is ultimately responsible for setting the direction of the Taskforce and ensuring the activities, actions and outcomes are in line with agreed objectives.
Key Accountabilities include
- Contributes to strategic corporate initiatives and is responsible for Taskforce priority implementation.
- Uses knowledge of structures, processes and culture of government, the sector, and the Department to develop policies and new program or project initiatives.
- Initiates and manages negotiations with peers (internal and external to work unit) to gain commitment to projects, and delivery of activities to meet timelines.
- Manages a large-scale project.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Taskforce implementation: Responsible for implementation of endorsed strategic priority, and lead a CAV Taskforce program of work, ensuring projects and tasks/activities are delivered on time, on budget and meet desired results and that policies, processes and systems are in place to support delivery.
- Taskforce leadership: Coordinate diverse and diffuse stakeholders across CAV and in the Victorian community and industry, obtaining support and buy-in as required for planning, execution and reporting regulatory projects.
- Strategic advice: Provide strategic and high-level authoritative advice to the General Manager, Regulatory Strategy and Director, Compliance and Enforcement on operational and strategic issues.
- Effective communication: Draft and coordinate production of high-quality reports, submissions, briefings, correspondence, and media content, maintaining proper document recording and tracking systems in accordance with internal standards.
- Stakeholder management: Contribute to the effective management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including building and maintaining beneficial partnerships within and outside of DGS including government, industry, and community.
- Outcome delivery: Experience leading diverse regulatory, compliance and enforcement functions to achieve a range of regulatory, compliance and enforcement priorities and high profile outcomes.
Mandatory requirements
- Relevant knowledge of and/ or demonstrated experience in legislative environment particularly in relation to consumer protection.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Knowledge of, and or relevant experience in regulatory environment is highly desirable.
