About the role

 

The usual place of work will be based in Ballarat or Geelong, depending on operational requirements and candidate preference.

 
The Planner works collaboratively to assist with the Planning portfolio’s statutory responsibilities, to drive the Government's significant planning policies, strategies, systems and reforms. The role is part of a broader team that delivers key policy commitments and provides quality planning services to local government, other agencies, and the Department.

Position accountabilities

– Provide planning support as part of a team for one or more projects, policies, programs, processes, systems, stakeholder relationships and pieces of legislation or regulation.
– Assist with projects to meet key objectives, as instructed.
– Identify actions to address issues as they arise and take advantage of opportunities or changes in the environment to achieve improved outcomes.
– Provide advice on issues, options and solutions within a functional area of responsibility.
– Influence and negotiate to support the achievement of outcomes.
– Develop effective partnerships and networks with peers and with internal and external stakeholders.


Qualifications and experience

– A relevant qualification in planning or related field is required. (mandatory)
– Experience in and knowledge of statutory and strategic land use planning within a metropolitan and regional planning context in Victoria. (desirable)
– Knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, associated regulations, ministerial directions and other statutory instruments. (desirable)
– Driver’s License (without any restriction which preclude the incumbent from performing the inherent requirements of the position and which cannot be reasonably accommodated by the Department) (mandatory)
