About the role

Usual Location – Ballarat – Flexibility may be available

The Team Leader Regional Projects sits within is responsible for delivering assigned capital projects to a team and leading this team to exceed client and community requirements. The Team Leader Regional Projects ensures that the project team is provided with support from other functional teams within Regional Capital Delivery or DTP.

  • Effective Delivery of Projects– Effectively deliver assigned projects, either individually or with the support of other project specialists.
  • Stakeholder Management and Community Engagement–Effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders and community
  • Capability Development– Develop and implement capability programs to improve team ability.
  • Effective People Leadership–Provide effective leadership, people management
  • Fostering Team Work–Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

What we’re looking for 

This role requires you to collaborate across teams to deliver safe, practical and high-quality engineering outcomes with a strong focus on capability development, building team skills through coaching, feedback and creating opportunities for growth. Strong professional engineering knowledge enables you to shape solutions, manage risks and ensure compliance with relevant standards. You translate strategy into well-governed projects and can lead by defining clear roles, success measures and monitoring progress to achieve outcomes. With sound critical thinking, you resolve issues using guidelines or informed judgement. You build effective stakeholder partnerships, understanding needs and delivering outcomes within organisational context.

Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant Experience in the delivery of large transport projects (mandatory)
  • Car License (without any restriction which preclude the incumbent from performing the inherent requirements of the position and which cannot be reasonably accommodated by the Department) (mandatory)
  • More than six years’ experience as lead project manager in regional road and bridge construction and maintenance (desirable).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil) or Tertiary qualifications in project management (desirable)
