About the role
This role is a fixed term job share position until 20 April 2027. The role is 3 days a week.
The Communications and Engagement Lead provides strategic advice and leads the development and delivery of communications and engagement plans for transport planning, policy, and road operations across the Loddon Mallee and Hume regions. The role requires strong communication skills, stakeholder engagement capability, risk awareness, and the ability to work independently in complex environments.
The role leads strategic communications and engagement activities, identifying opportunities and managing reputational risks across projects. It builds strong stakeholder relationships, develops engagement strategies and communication plans, and delivers clear collateral within required timeframes. The position requires strong analysis, collaboration across teams, and alignment of communications with broader organisational objectives.

You’re someone who:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to consider broader business context and deliver practical, outcome-focused solutions.
- Customer-focused approach, tailoring services to stakeholder needs while effectively managing service delivery risks.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, building collaborative relationships and responding to underlying needs to achieve shared outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, providing clear, influential advice and tailoring messaging for different audiences.
- Strong project delivery capability, translating strategies into structured programs with effective governance, alongside flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in communications, engagement or a similar discipline (mandatory).
- Experience in planning and delivering communications and engagement programs in a public sector, major project, transport or infrastructure (desirable).
