About the role 

The Investment and Technology division manages the investment lifecycle, provides commercial advice and negotiations, and supports delivery through Finance, Procurement and Enterprise Technology. Within this division, the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) oversees State Budget projects, helping prioritise investments and providing project assurance, governance, frameworks, systems and training to support successful project delivery across the Department.

The Project Assurance Officer works within the PMO to provide oversight and assurance of assigned project portfolio(s). The role reviews project performance, analyses delivery data, prepares high-quality reports and responses, and supports project governance by monitoring risks, ensuring compliance, and providing insights and recommendations to improve project delivery outcomes.

You’re someone who: 

• Contributes ideas to improve processes, maintains quality standards, and delivers effective outcomes even under time pressure.
• Uses data and analytics to support decision-making, with strong Excel skills including advanced formulas, pivot tables and data visualisation.
• Builds positive relationships, understands stakeholder needs and perspectives, and works effectively with a wide range of people.
• Communicates clearly and confidently, presenting information with credibility and handling sensitive or complex discussions professionally.
• Collaborates across teams, supports colleagues, and applies project assurance practices to monitor performance, governance, compliance and project delivery outcomes.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

• A relevant qualification in project management or a related field
• Experience working in a similar project assurance, governance or portfolio management environment is highly regarded.
