About the role 

This is an Ongoing, fulltime position based in Ringwood. 

The Surveillance Lead provides on-site assurance that road maintenance works are completed safely, to a high standard, and in line with contractual, regulatory and quality requirements. The role uses independent judgement to monitor contractor performance and support positive safety and network outcomes.

The position also provides day-to-day leadership and support to Surveillance Officers, acting as the primary contact for technical advice, operational issues and surveillance activities. The role promotes consistency, mentors team members, supports capability development, and assists in resolving quality, compliance and contract performance issues.
 

What we’re looking for 

You’re someone who: 

  • Has demonstrated experience delivering network surveillance activities and providing guidance and support to officers undertaking surveillance work.
  • Applies strong knowledge of road maintenance, quality assurance and auditing requirements to ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation and asset management practices.
  • Understands and applies OH&S, traffic management and environmental requirements relevant to road works and maintenance activities.
  • Builds capability through mentoring, coaching and knowledge sharing, while promoting consistent surveillance practices and a collaborative team culture.
  • Uses sound judgement and problem-solving skills to prioritise activities, provide technical advice, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • Experience in road maintenance and field inspection or quality assurance activities, with the ability to apply relevant standards, specifications and legislative requirements (mandatory).
  • Technical knowledge of road management, traffic management and safety requirements, along with proficiency in using system-based applications and field technology.
  • A valid Driver’s Licence and a relevant certification in civil construction, such as a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision (desirable).
