About the role  

*This position is based in the Hume region*


The Director leads regional statutory and strategic planning, emergency management, road safety and transport engineering across the Loddon Mallee Hume region. The role provides high-level strategic advice, ensures planning decisions align with long-term community needs, and oversees safety, operations and fleet management. It also guides project prioritisation and supports the development of regional self-determination action plans.

As a senior leader, the role drives workforce capability, fosters an inclusive culture, and builds strong stakeholder relationships across government, industry and the community. It contributes to organisational reform, resource and budget management, and delivers authoritative advice to support complex transport, policy and delivery priorities across the region.

You’re someone who: 

  • Builds and leads strong stakeholder relationships, proactively managing needs, issues and outcomes across internal and external partners.
  • Oversees delivery of large-scale, complex projects, managing resources, risks, budgets and cross-functional teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Leads strategic planning, shaping organisational direction, integrating broader policy and sector trends, and guiding long-term priorities.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership behaviours, fostering a positive, inclusive culture, developing capability and supporting high-performing teams.
  • Applies transport and planning expertise to provide clear, evidence-based advice that supports whole-of-network outcomes and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • Relevant experience and/or qualifications in statutory planning or traffic engineering, with a strong understanding of planning and transport systems.
  • Proven experience leading large, multi-faceted teams and delivering successful outcomes in complex environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external partners; business management experience and/or understanding of the Victorian Emergency Management Framework is desirable.
