About the Role 
The Surveillance Coordinator plays a critical leadership role within the Surveillance / Assurance team of Maintenance Operations. This position is responsible for overseeing a team of specialists in road maintenance, ensuring the effective inspection and assurance of contractor delivered maintenance services and works. All activities are conducted in alignment with the Victorian Road Maintenance Contract, as well as relevant legislation and standards. 


Operating in a dynamic and fast paced environment, the Surveillance Coordinator manages and supports a geographically dispersed team, providing direction and fostering operational excellence. The role requires the application of sound professional judgement and independent decision making to maintain compliance to Surveillance Coordinator robust assurance processes. These processes deliver accurate and timely data to inform the Department’s Commercial and Performance teams. 
Additionally, the Surveillance Coordinator contributes expertise across the organisation, supporting other business areas where road maintenance assurance and expertise is required. 

Position accountabilities

  • Road Maintenance Expertise: Deep understanding of road maintenance practices, standards, and relevant legislation (e.g., Road management Act, AGTTM etc.).
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ability to implement and monitor assurance frameworks and systems to ensure contractor compliance.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Proficiency in interpreting inspection data that informs performance and commercial decisions. 
  • Contract Management: Familiarity with contract terms, performance metrics, and service delivery expectations.

Qualifications and role specific requirement

Desirable 

  • A relevant tertiary degree would be well regarded.
  • Experience in project and program delivery.
