About the role
This is a Fixed Term role until 30th June 2027
As a Transport Technical Officer, you support and conduct speed zoning projects in line with the Speed Zoning Policy and Technical Guidelines. This includes assessing and reviewing speed limits to balance road safety, traffic efficiency, and community needs, using a risk-based, data-driven approach such as Infrastructure Risk Rating (IRR). You assist LGAs in proactively evaluating local roads for speed adjustments, particularly in areas with changing traffic patterns, urban development, or high pedestrian and cyclist activity. Responsibilities also include preparing compliant signing schemes, managing project delivery, procurement, and reporting, ensuring all speed zoning decisions enhance safety while maintaining efficient traffic flow.
The role is responsible for providing clear, actionable advice on program and project delivery, ensuring stakeholders are informed and supported. It contributes to innovative road safety solutions, applying expertise to plan and manage improvements across the network. The role fosters strong internal and external relationships, building trust and collaboration, while using systematic approaches and advanced problem-solving to identify and address complex transport and safety issues. Responsibilities also include promoting safe, inclusive, and flexible team operations, and undertaking other duties aligned with skills, classification, and organisational priorities.
