SprayLine Road Services (SRS) is a commercialised branch within the Network Operations Division of the Department of Transport and Planning providing road maintenance services, construction and associated civil works, bituminous spray sealing and line marking to DTP, other state road authorities, municipal councils, and private industry. SRS delivers services locally within the communities and is committed to ensuring quality, innovative and sustainable outcomes. SRS performs a key role as an internal provider to DTP, providing emergency response, maintaining organisational capability and supporting DTP in being an informed purchaser.

About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 31 December 2025
The Works Scheduler is responsible for utilising internal maintenance management software to schedule hazard and defect maintenance ensuring contractual compliance for Metro Region. This role continuously monitors and evaluates relevant hazard and defect schedules to ensure response times are met.
This position reports to the Team Leader, Dandenong and works closely with the Metro Region Program Development Leads, other Team Leaders, Works Supervisors and crews.
Whilst this role is primarily based in the Metro Region at Dandenong Depot, you may occasionally be required to work from other locations across the state of Victoria based on the operational needs of the broader SRS business.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
- Use Asset Vision to create general reports and assign works to crews and site managers.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure early intervention of potential risks are raised and solutions are collaboratively developed.
- Work with the Site Managers to schedule hazard and defect inspections runs at both Lilydale and Dandenong depots to ensure contractual compliance.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate relevant hazard and defect schedules to ensure response times are meet and to determine the status of assigned works so pro-active actions can be implemented if necessary.
- Implement changes to existing work practices, policies and procedures that result in business
improvements in line with the work area direction and strategic goals.
- Regularly participate and support in the evaluation of the end-to-end planning processes and systems to continuously improve productivity and the service provided to all internal and external stakeholders
Key Selection Criteria
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Works Scheduler to join our Metro team. This role is essential to supporting the delivery of road and infrastructure maintenance across the metropolitan area.
As a Works Scheduler, you will coordinate and execute routine maintenance activities, including inspections and minor works, ensuring all tasks are carried out in line with Traffic Management Plans and departmental procedures. You’ll use approved task management tools to track work progress and maintain accurate records, contributing to the successful delivery of infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong foundational skills in project delivery, critical thinking, and problem-solving. You’ll work within policy and procedural frameworks to resolve issues and, where necessary, escalate matters with informed recommendations. A commitment to safety and compliance is essential, with a solid understanding of operational policies such as OH&S standards, Safe Work Method Statements, and Traffic Management Plans.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in scheduling maintenance activities.
- Experience managing and scheduling multiple works across various geographic locations.
- Solid administrative and computer skills.

- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Understanding of Asset Maintenance Management Systems
- Strong knowledge of the Road Management Plan
- Strong understanding of Maintenance Specification Section 750.

Role Specific Requirements
- Driver’s License
- Ordinary Hours of Work – This position will be required to undertake shift work which will include as part of a regular pattern or roster cycle Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday, and/or afternoon/night shifts.
