About the role
This role has been designated for only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
The Aboriginal Partnership Officer plays a key role in building strong, respectful relationships with Registered Aboriginal Parties, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and other Aboriginal stakeholders across the region. In this role, you will provide expert advice and support meaningful partnerships based on trust and understanding. You will help deliver important initiatives, including the Aboriginal Self Determination and Reform Plan and the Cultural Safety Action Plan. Working closely with internal teams and stakeholders, you will ensure these commitments are embedded into everyday practices and contribute to positive, culturally safe outcomes.

Solves problems using guidelines and seeks input when needed to find the best outcome.
Delivers tasks efficiently, prioritises work, and keeps accurate project records.
Communicates well, understands others’ perspectives, and adapts to different audiences.
Collaborates with others, promotes inclusion, and stays focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for the community.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- Experience working in or alongside Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations or Traditional Owner groups
- Tertiary qualifications in Aboriginal studies, public policy, community development, or related discipline
Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
Relevant pre-employment screening and reference checks will be required.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
Recipients of Victorian Public Service (VPS) voluntary departure packages should note that re-employment restrictions apply.
