SprayLine Road Services (SRS) is a commercialised branch within the Network Operations Division of the Department of Transport and Planning providing road maintenance services, construction and associated civil works, bituminous spray sealing and line marking to DTP, other state road authorities, municipal councils, and private industry. SRS delivers services locally within the communities and is committed to ensuring quality, innovative and sustainable outcomes. SRS performs a key role as an internal provider to DTP, providing emergency response, maintaining organisational capability and supporting DTP in being an informed purchaser. We’re focused on outcomes that deliver more choice, connections and confidence in our travel, ensuring the whole transport network works as one to deliver better services and outcomes.
About the position
*This is a Fixed Term Position until 31 December 2025*
This role involves working as part of line marking and spray sealing crews, carrying out various road maintenance tasks using specialised equipment and manual labour, under general supervision and in line with safety and quality procedures. Based at the Junortoun Depot, the position requires flexibility to work overtime, travel, and occasionally stay away from home, with appropriate allowances and accommodation provided.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
- Promote a strong safety culture, encouraging reporting and inclusive, flexible team operations.
- Support the timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of spray sealing and line marking services.
- Adhere to and model the VPS Code of Conduct and positive workplace behaviours.
- Be available for after-hours emergency responses and support teams across Victoria as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the Surfacing Delivery team.
Key Selection Criteria
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a Road Worker to join its Surfacing Delivery team based at Junortoun Depot. The role involves carrying out spray sealing and line marking works across Victoria, using specialised equipment and following strict safety and quality procedures. Candidates should have foundational skills in project delivery, problem solving, and a solid understanding of safety policies. Flexibility for travel, overtime, and occasional after-hours emergency response is essential, with allowances and accommodation provided where required.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Current Medium Rigid Truck Licence (Medium Rigid or higher)
- Current Construction Induction White Card
- Current Traffic Management Ticket
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Working knowledge of computer tablets / mobile devices.
Desirable
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Understanding of Asset Maintenance Management Systems
- Chainsaw & Pole saw training
- Skid Steer training.
