SprayLine Road Services (SRS) is a commercialised branch within the Network Operations Division of the Department of Transport and Planning providing road maintenance services, construction and associated civil works, bituminous spray sealing and line marking to DTP, other state road authorities, municipal councils, and private industry. SRS delivers services locally within the communities and is committed to ensuring quality, innovative and sustainable outcomes. SRS performs a key role as an internal provider to DTP, providing emergency response, maintaining organisational capability and supporting DTP in being an informed purchaser.

About the role
*This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2026*
In this role you will undertake a variety of road maintenance and civil construction activities including
network inspections and hazard and defect rectification works and perform manual labour-intensive
tasks in accordance with established safety, environmental and quality procedures. After hours
Emergency response capabilities and overtime are requirements of this role, and opportunities may be
available to travel within the state to assist with broader Emergency responses.
Whilst this role is primarily based in the Metro Region at Lilydale Depot, you may be occasionally
required to work from other locations across the state of Victoria based on the operational needs of the
broader SRS business.
The standard hours for this position are 7.30am to 4.00pm.
There may occasionally be a requirement to work overtime outside these hours, work away from home
for periods of time, and attend after hours call outs as required
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will effectively deliver project tasks by following Traffic Management Plans, using approved tools, and maintaining accurate records while adjusting priorities based on urgency. They will demonstrate foundational critical thinking and problem-solving skills by applying policies and seeking guidance when needed, and will actively contribute to continuous improvement through quality-focused ideas and innovation. Additionally, they will understand and apply relevant policies and procedures, support capability development within the team, and pursue their own professional growth through feedback and self-awareness.

Position accountabilities
As a key team member of the SRS Maintenance Delivery team, you will be responsible for contributing to
the following outcomes:
• Promote a safety culture that encourages reporting.
• Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.
• Contribute to the cost effective, timely and quality delivery of spray sealing and line marking
services aligned with the requirements of contracts and performance-based agreements.
• Adherence to and role modelling of the VPS code of conduct and associated behaviours.
• Role modelling and fostering positive behaviours and encouraging others to do likewise.
• Be reasonably available to provide after-hours emergency response state-wide.
• Responsiveness to assist the broader SRS teams situated across Victoria.
• Strive for continuous improvement and support innovation
Qualifications and experience
Mandatory
• Current Victorian Drivers Licence
• Current Medium Rigid Truck Licence (Medium Rigid or higher)
• Current Construction Induction White Card
• Current Traffic Management Ticket
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Working knowledge of computer tablets / mobile devices.
Desirable
• Certificate III in Civil Construction
• Understanding of Asset Maintenance Management Systems
• Strong knowledge of the Road Management Plan
• Strong understanding of Maintenance Specification Section 750
• Chainsaw & Polesaw training
• Skid Steer training
