Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

About the opportunity

 

We’re seeking a proactive and creative Adviser, Urban Design to join the Suburban Rail Loop Authority. As part of a team, you will contribute to ensuring aspirational and deliverable visions and plans are in place to shape and manage precinct change enabled by the SRL transport project. You will also provide urban design services and assistance to ensure the SRL rail and infrastructure project supports the future vision of the SRL precincts. Working at a neighbourhood planning scale through to components of the transport project, to ensure the overall project achieves high quality design outcomes at every scale.

 

As an Adviser, Urban Design you will have:

 

  • Design Thinking: background and experience in the design of precinct planning and infrastructure projects; and understands design process and can use conceptual thinking and sound analytical approaches to develop spatial solutions and make recommendations for action.

 

  • Project and Work Management: manages projects, tasks and competing priorities; implements projects on time and to budget; can work both independently and within collaborative team environments; and is able to ensure project objectives are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues.

 

  • Relationship Building: establishes and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders; and builds trust through consistent actions, values, and communication while minimising surprises.

 

  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Cooperates and works well with others in the pursuit of shared goals; collaborates and shares information; shows consideration, concern and respect for others’ feelings and ideas; accommodates and works well with the different working styles of others; encourages resolution of conflict within groups.

 

  • Communication: Demonstrated high-quality graphic communication skills and an ability to convey ideas and concepts in an interesting way; and can produce well developed written documentation for a range of audiences that is clear, concise, grammatically correct and fit-for-purpose.
