About the role 

This is a three year Fixed Term Position  

The Assistant Rail Planner supports the planning and development of Victoria’s future rail network for passengers and freight. The role works across the transport portfolio and with stakeholders to deliver integrated, place-based transport and land use planning, with users at the centre of planning decisions.

The role provides analysis and advice on rail projects, considering network-wide and long-term impacts. It supports stakeholder engagement and prepares briefs, reports and presentations, while monitoring emerging trends, technology and changing travel needs to keep rail planning relevant and aligned with government policy and objectives.

  • Works collaboratively and flexibly, sharing information, supporting colleagues and adapting quickly to changing priorities and cross-organisational requirements.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • A relevant tertiary degree or experience particularly in transport or land use planning (desirable)

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
