About the role
The Audit and Compliance Coordinator plays an important role in the MR5 Contract Management team, supporting effective oversight of the MR5 Tram Franchise Agreement through auditing, compliance and reporting activities.
This position will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the development, planning and delivery of the MR5 contract management audit program and framework. Audits will be conducted using a risk-based approach and seek to provide assurance that the Tram Operator is meeting contractual obligations. The Audit and Compliance Coordinator will contribute to audit reports with well-articulated and evidence-based findings, facilitating continuous improvement.
The position is also responsible for monitoring and reporting on health of contract through management and analysis of compliance and operational data. This includes working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure contractual targets are being met. This role will prepare reports with actionable insights that inform decision making and fostering continuous improvement across all areas of the Franchise.
Additionally, the position will be responsible for the ongoing development, management and integrity of the BIS (Business Information System) for the MR5 contract, including the administration of user access, data management and reporting functions.

Key Selection Criteria
We are seeking an accomplished Audit and Compliance Coordinator with proven expertise in critical thinking and problem solving. You will evaluate issues from multiple perspectives, identify and prevent recurring problems, and integrate solutions into processes to deliver tangible business outcomes.
Your ability to consider the wider business context ensures effective, sustainable resolutions.
You will lead innovation and continuous improvement initiatives, using stakeholder insight to design systems that enhance effectiveness and quality of work.
Your approach will foster creativity within the team while maintaining flexibility to adapt systems and processes to evolving priorities. Strong stakeholder management skills will ensure you build trust, monitor satisfaction, and resolve issues constructively.
In this role, you will apply best-practice auditing principles to assurance reviews, compliance reporting, and governance obligations.
Leveraging your knowledge of project and program governance, you will establish probity systems, manage risk, monitor performance, and implement solutions to address underperformance.
Position accountabilities
– Project Coordination - Coordinate and oversee the risk-based audit and compliance programs, establishing and contributing to a best practice framework
– Strategy - Prepares audit scopes, briefs and related audit and compliance activities within broad parameters, aligning with the MR5 contract requirements
– Operator Compliance - Undertakes complex or technical investigations and makes recommendations for action based on findings around contractor compliance
– Reporting - Drafts reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues by monitoring, interpreting and analysing compliance data
– Advice - Interprets and applies contract terms and related plans and policies and conveys specialist concepts and policies to internal and external stakeholders
– Continuous Improvement – Contribute to continuous improvement, ensuring that appropriate governance, justification, documentation and record keeping for any changes to the work program are in line with the requirements of the operator agreements and other related documents.
– In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities
Qualifications and experience
– Relevant qualification and/or related experience in auditing, contract management and/or assurance (mandatory)
– Competency in reporting, data analysis and presentation (mandatory)
– Sound understanding and application of advanced analytical tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Excel (mandatory)
– Strong working knowledge of electronic document record managements systems including Content Manager, Outlook, TRIM, Affinitext and Lotus Notes (mandatory)
