About the role

This is the fixed term, full-time position until 30/11/2026.

The Business Support Officer role sits in the Office of the Executive Director, First Peoples Self Determination and Reform (FPSDR) Division reporting to the Principal Program Advisor.  The Business Support Officer will undertake business support activities and is responsible for delivering end-to-end administrative services to support decision-making and carrying out of a range of services in FPSDR. This position provides business and administrative support to the Executive Director FPSDR to ensure that the key deliverables are completed within required timeframes and to required standards. 
The FPSDR Division’s primary responsibilities are to enable the self-determination reform agenda across the Transport and Planning Portfolio through the implementation of the integrated Transport Portfolio Aboriginal Self Determination Plan 2020-2023. The FPSDR Division also leads the coordination of integrated advice to the Victorian Government on the Portfolio’s delivery of Victorian Aboriginal affairs commitments, including but not limited to: 
–    Transport Portfolio Aboriginal Self Determination Plan 2020-2023
–    Yani Bangal Transport and Planning Portfolio First Peoples Careers Strategy 2023-2028
–    Transport and Planning Portfolio First Peoples Cultural Safety Framework and Department of Transport and Planning Action Plan 2024-2028
–    Transport and Planning Portfolio Wurrek-Al First Peoples Engagement Framework
–    Transport and planning related recommendations resulting from the Yoorrook Justice Commission
–    Transport and planning inputs into National Closing the Gap Agreement requirements
–    Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework
–    Victorian Government Self-Determination Reform Framework
–    Yuma Yirramboi – Aboriginal Employment and Economic Strategy
–    Barring Djinang First Peoples Workforce Development Framework.

Position accountabilities

The successful candidate is required to manages team performance through effective monitoring and reporting, communicates and advocates preferred options to stakeholders, and drives procedural improvements. Provides authoritative policy guidance and analysis that informs sound decision-making.


Qualifications and experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Victorian First Peoples cultures and societies, including Traditional Owner groups (mandatory).
  • Relevant experience in an administrative role is preferred.
