V/Line Corporation is a statutory authority that delivers regional rail and coach services that tens of thousands of Victorians rely on every day. With more than 2,000 staff and over 3,500 kilometres of track, V/Line connects communities across regional Victoria. V/Line manages passenger and freight services, maintains vital infrastructure, and ensures the safety and reliability of the state’s regional transport network.
About the role
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) drives customer excellence through operations, culture and performance in a complex, dynamic environment. This includes championing safety, driving continuous improvement and ensuring statutory compliance. As V/Line’s public face, the CEO engages with community, industry and media stakeholders, while aligning V/Line’s services with government priorities and community expectations.
About you
You are an accomplished executive with extensive experience in managing large-scale operations, preferably in the transport, logistics, consumer, infrastructure or related large people-based sectors. Your background includes operational leadership in safety-critical public environments, and you have ideally navigated multifaceted stakeholder relationships, including at Ministerial and Departmental executive levels. Your expertise encompasses executive-level risk, financial and asset management functions and you can speak to your experience in leading organisational and cultural change in relevant industrial contexts. In public-facing roles, you are adept at representing your organisation in the media and at industry events. Your strategic judgement, integrity, and dedication to public sector values position you to lead V/Line in delivering safe, reliable and customer-focused services across Victoria. With your visionary leadership, you will inspire a culture of excellence and innovation, ensuring that V/Line meets the expectations of the communities it serves.
