About the role
This is a 3-year fixed term role 
This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic financial and commercial advice across major rolling stock and ticketing projects. The Commercial and Finance Advisor will play a pivotal role in optimising financial outcomes, managing complex commercial risks, and ensuring strong governance and value for money for the State. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you’ll help shape commercial strategies that drive successful project delivery and long-term benefits for Victoria.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will bring deep commercial and financial expertise, with a proven ability to lead and advise on complex, high-value projects across the rolling stock and ticketing portfolio. Success in this role relies on the capacity to provide strategic, evidence-based advice on commercial structures, financial modelling, and risk management that informs executive decision-making and drives value for money outcomes. The role requires a confident communicator who can influence stakeholders, navigate complex governance environments, and contribute to the strategic direction and successful delivery of major transport initiatives.

Position accountabilities
- Deliver expert commercial and financial advice to support the successful delivery of major rolling stock and ticketing projects, ensuring safety, operational, and value-for-money outcomes.
- Lead financial planning, reporting, risk management, and commercial negotiations, including management of claims and disputes.
- Collaborate with project teams, legal, procurement, and senior stakeholders to align strategies and optimise project performance.
- Provide clear, actionable insights, building trust with internal and external stakeholders and supporting informed executive decision-making.
Qualifications and experience
- Tertiary qualification in finance, project management, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience delivering outcomes in complex, high-value or high-risk project environments.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience collaborating with external advisors on complex commercial or financial matters.
