About the role

*Full-Time, Fixed Term Opportunity until 31 October 2028

The Commercial Officer provides commercial advice and support across public transport projects in Victoria. They work with project teams, legal advisers, industry partners and senior stakeholders to develop tender documents, contract designs and commercial frameworks for major bus and service contracts. They analyse information, prepare briefings and help secure government approvals. By working collaboratively and influencing key stakeholders, they help deliver strong, well-managed contracts that achieve government objectives and provide long-term value for the public transport network and the community.

What we’re looking for (Selection Criteria) 

You’re someone who: 

• Demonstrates strong commercial and contract management experience
• Builds strong relationships with stakeholders, understands their needs and works collaboratively to achieve shared goals, including designing complex contracts and developing commercial regimes.
• Is able to manage complex contracts, ensuring supplier compliance, and performance monitoring,
• Assess and mitigates risks while applying contract management best practises
• Leads, collaborates and influences internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely project goals
• has the ability to facilitate transition from transaction phase of the project to contract management, including developing relevant handover documentation and packs
• Focuses on achieving positive community outcomes and fosters a culture of collaboration across teams and external partners.

Qualifications and experience 

Mandatory

• At least 2 years of professional experience in a relevant commercial transaction / recontracting or commercial contract management setting.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in law, business management, commerce/economics or related discipline.

Desired

• Experience in large public transport / infrastructure contracts in large complex organisations.
• Experience working with State or Federal Government would be beneficial.
