About the Communications and Customer Experience Division

The Communications and Customer Experience Division supports the Department of Transport and Planning to deliver on the Government's transport and precincts agenda. The division innovates with communications approaches to support organisational, cultural and behavioural change. About the Role

This is a Fixed term position until 30 June 2027

The Communications and Stakeholder Lead plays a key role in supporting the Communications and Stakeholder Manager to deliver clear, consistent, and effective communications for the road maintenance program.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic communications plan, using a variety of channels including digital platforms, marketing, video, social media, stakeholder engagement, and community information.

Success in the role relies on strong collaboration with stakeholders across operational teams to monitor and track program progress. The position also works closely with colleagues across the wider communications team to ensure a coordinated and aligned approach.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

  • Leading project management across timelines, resource planning, delivery outputs, and budget management.
  • Proactively identifying reputational risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensuring communication strategies and activities align with the broader divisional objectives.
  • Developing a deep understanding of projects and programs, collaborating closely with project teams to support delivery while triaging and prioritising communication outputs.
  • Delivering comprehensive communications and engagement plans that clearly define stakeholders, key messages, channels, potential issues, and proposed mitigations.
  • Overseeing the execution of communications and engagement activities to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.
  • Evaluating communications effectiveness by engaging with relevant communities and capturing lessons learned to inform future initiatives.
  •  Performing other duties as required under Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic), consistent  with the role’s classification, skills, and capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in communications, engagement, public relations, education or a similar discipline
