About the role 
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30th June 2027

The Communications and Stakeholder Lead provides strategic communications and stakeholder engagement advice, leading the planning and delivery of communications for projects and initiatives. The role requires strong communication skills, strategic thinking, initiative, and the ability to identify and manage risks in a complex, changing environment. Experience in communications and engagement, as well as an interest in transport is essential.

The role develops and delivers communication and engagement strategies, builds strong stakeholder relationships, manages reputational risks, prepares communication materials, provides advice to managers and executives, and works collaboratively to align activities with broader organisational goals.

  • Puts customers and stakeholders first, building strong relationships, understanding their needs, and tailoring communication and engagement to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Communicates with influence, providing clear, targeted advice and key messages that support informed decision-making across a range of audiences.
  • Leads the successful delivery of projects, translating strategy into action, managing governance, risks, and progress to achieve results.
  • Adapts quickly to change, responding flexibly to shifting priorities while maintaining high-quality service and outcomes.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in communications, engagement or a similar discipline (mandatory).
  • Experience in planning and delivering communications and engagement programs in a public sector, major project, transport or infrastructure (desirable).

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions  

Relevant pre-employment screening and reference checks will be required. 

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
