About the team
Transport Services delivers safe, reliable and accessible transport services and infrastructure across the state.


Within this group, the Public Transport division oversees the performance, management and delivery of Victoria’s rail, tram, bus and coach networks.

 

The Contract Variations team manages contract claims submitted by the metropolitan train franchisee. This includes claims arising from changes across the metropolitan rail network as a result Victoria’s Big Build and other asset and operational programs.

 

 

About the role
This is a Fixed Term position until 31 July 2028.

 

The Contract Variations Accountant oversees the financial performance of the Contract Variations program, managing financial models, budgets, forecasts and reporting, while supporting the assessment of contract claims to ensure contractual and financial compliance.

 

We’re seeking someone with strong project accounting skills, experience in budgeting and forecasting, and the ability to interpret data accurately. Critical thinking and effective stakeholder engagement are essential.

 

The ideal candidate will be collaborative, organised and proactive, able to work across teams and provide clear financial insights.

What you’ll bring:

 

A tertiary qualification in accounting (mandatory), with CA/CPA membership desirable.

Strong project accounting, budgeting and forecasting capability.

 

Experience managing financial models and reporting processes with accuracy and attention to detail.

The ability to assess commercial or contractual information and apply critical thinking to identify issues and solutions.

 

Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Experience supporting process improvement or enhancing financial/reporting frameworks will be highly regarded.


Experience in infrastructure environments or with contract variations/commercial claims is desirable.
