About the Role

This is a fixed-term position available until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension.

 

As the Contract and Commercial Manager, you will be a trusted partner to the Project Director and you will be crucial to the commercial success of our high value rolling stock and ticketing projects. Reporting to the Executive Director, Finance and Commercial, you will manage two direct reports and lead complex negotiations. Your role involves providing expert advice on procurement, contracts, and commercial strategies to ensure projects meet key milestones and deliver value for the State.

You will work hands-on at the intersection of public infrastructure and project delivery, developing innovative commercial frameworks and negotiating with suppliers and stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives. Strong relationship management with both suppliers and the department will be essential.

What You’ll Bring

 

We are looking for a candidate with exceptional commercial acumen and a deep understanding of infrastructure markets, particularly in rolling stock and ticketing. You should have solid experience in contract management and a proven ability to lead high-value negotiations. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to provide pragmatic advice at an executive level and manage complex stakeholder environments effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Significant experience in commercial and contract management within major public or private projects.
  • Hands-on experience in managing contracts and relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Expertise in public infrastructure procurement, preferably including Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, engineering, finance, or project management is desirable.
