About VHBA  

The Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) is responsible for the rollout of the Victorian Government's multi-billion dollar health capital projects. We're delivering world class health facilities across Victoria including new public hospitals and emergency care, community health services, ambulance branches, residential aged care and mental health facilities. VHBA also provides technical support across engineering, property, asset management and environmental sustainability disciplines. 

 

The Opportunity:  

The Deputy Director, Information & Technology leads a skilled team delivering smart, secure, and streamlined I&T solutions that drive better decision making and improve how VHBA works. This is a unique opportunity to influence strategy, uplift digital capability, and collaborate across VIDA and ODG to deliver innovative, high impact technology outcomes.

 

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Lead and optimise VHBA’s Information & Technology function, ensuring responsive service delivery, robust governance, and a customer centric approach.
  • Drive strategic improvements in service management, data-driven decision making, and business process efficiency aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Provide expert technical leadership, overseeing risk management, incident response, and continuous improvement across systems, services, and vendor performance.

 

We are looking for: 

  • Proven I&T leadership experience in complex project environments, with a strong grasp of service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL), enterprise systems such as ServiceNow, and the ability to drive strategic technology solutions across large scale programs.
  • A collaborative and emotionally intelligent leader who builds trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, inspires high performing teams, and fosters a positive culture through ethical leadership, engagement, and clear communication.
  • Strategic and systems oriented thinker who brings strong planning capability, understands the broader business and policy landscape, and can influence organisational direction through expert insight and integrated decision making.
  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Information Management, Business, Information Security, or a related field is highly desirable.
