The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) creates thriving places and connected communities by bringing together transport, planning, land use, precinct and policy functions. Its mission is to deliver simpler, safer and more reliable journeys that connect people, places and freight, supporting a more liveable and prosperous Victoria. Working closely with portfolio agencies, it is responsible for planning, building, operating and maintaining Victoria’s transport, planning and land services.

The Network Design and Integration Group within DTP designs, develops and integrates Victoria’s transport network to meet current and future community needs. It achieves this through the planning, development and maintenance of an integrated pipeline of projects and strategic initiatives that provide safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes to all Victorians.

The Deputy Secretary of the Network Design and Integration Group is central to the design and delivery of Victoria’s largest-ever investment in the public transport and road networks. Leading the strategic transport planning, technical coordination and integration of Victoria’s Big Build program into the transport system, the position is responsible for ensuring that it is fit-for-purpose, sustainable and aligned with long-term State priorities. The role is also accountable for road safety and freight outcomes across public and private sectors, and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including Ministers and the Commonwealth Government.

To be considered for this position, you will have extensive experience at a senior level within a large Government Department or a relevant private sector organisation. You will be able to demonstrate effective leadership across a significant and diverse team in a high-profile and robust workplace. With expertise in high-level and complex stakeholder relationships within the private and public sectors, including engaging with Ministers and senior industry leaders, you will be adept in delivering a transformational agenda and achieving the Government's transport objectives. You will also have a proven track record in making a valuable contribution to the executive team. A relevant tertiary degree and post graduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
