About the Role

The Digital Communications Lead will be responsible for leading and coordinating digital communication activities to support the opening of the Metro Tunnel. The role will work closely with internal teams, key stakeholders, and external partners to ensure that public transport users receive clear, timely, consistent and accessible information about network changes through PTV channels.

This role will focus on developing and implementing digital strategies across the PTV website, app, social media, email, and interactive tools, ensuring a seamless customer experience.

Position Outcomes

  • Develop and execute digital content that informs and influences customer behaviour and supports each phase of the opening of the Metro Tunnel Project
  • Ensure PTV digital channels display accurate Metro Tunnel service information, including journey planning, timetables, and routes, with clear guidance on navigation and interchanges
  • Execute tailored email and social media strategies that engage key audiences, drive awareness, and effectively communicate network changes
  • Act as the primary digital liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring digital activities align with the broader communications and operational readiness plans.

 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

As the Digital Communications Lead (Metro Tunnel), you will lead the design and delivery of communication initiatives through strong stakeholder engagement and collaborative co-creation. You will actively partner with internal and external stakeholders, including subject matter experts and end-users, to gather insights and co-develop communication strategies, prototypes, and testing processes to ensure user needs are met and validated. You will define clear project tasks and coordinate team efforts to ensure timely and effective execution, regularly monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Drawing on your advanced data literacy skills—including the use of Excel formulas, pivot tables, and data visualisations—you will analyse communication performance metrics to inform strategic decisions. Your ability to craft impactful messages tailored to diverse audiences ensures information is clearly conveyed and supports informed decision-making at all levels. You will manage stakeholder relationships with a focus on adding value, addressing concerns constructively, and maintaining high levels of satisfaction. By applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills, you will interpret complex information, identify solutions, and guide decision-making processes, even in the absence of predefined guidelines.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Mandatory

  • 3+ years experience working in digital communications, content strategy or digital marketing
  • Experience managing website, email and social media projects in a complex environment
  • Highly developed organisational skills, in environments with tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Strong understanding of digital customer experience, analytics, accessibility (WCAG 2.1) and content best practices.

 

Desirable

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in transport, infrastructure, or government projects.
