Work Type:  Fixed Term Full Time
Fixed Term Period:  3 Years
Location:  Melbourne - CBD

Join us on Victoria’s Big Build, delivering the Victorian Government's rail infrastructure projects. To reflect our broader remit, our organisation name has changed from Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) to VIDA Rail, providing a strong link to our overarching authority, VIDA. We're excited and proud to continue the Level Crossing Removal Project, Melbourne Airport Rail and Big Build Rail projects. There's never been a better time to get amongst the action!

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Information, this role leads the implementation of a digital way of working across VIDA Rail projects. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, project offices and delivery partners to embed consistent digital engineering standards, improve information quality, and support efficient project development and delivery across a complex infrastructure portfolio.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership and advice on digital engineering requirements across project development and delivery, including 3D design coordination, information requirements and progressive data delivery.
  • Partner with alliances, contractors and internal teams to ensure digital engineering processes, systems and standards are understood and consistently applied.
  • Manage digital platforms and information environments, including the coordination of project data, access, model integration and digital deliverables across the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor digital engineering progress, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and support better project outcomes through reporting, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.

The role is a 3-year fixed term position, paying a salary between $142,790 - $191,084 plus superannuation with hybrid working arrangements (a mix of CBD office and home/remote based working).

About you

You are an experienced digital engineering professional with strong infrastructure project delivery knowledge and the ability to influence a broad range of stakeholders. You bring sound judgement, a collaborative approach and a practical understanding of how to embed digital tools, standards and processes to improve delivery outcomes. You are comfortable leading conversations, solving complex issues and driving consistency across multiple project interfaces.

Let’s get technical – what skills do we expect you to have?

  • Demonstrated experience establishing and managing digital engineering platforms and processes across the project lifecycle using best-practice digital workflows and automation.
  • Experience working on infrastructure project delivery within contractor, consultant or designer environments.
  • Strong knowledge of digital engineering tools and applications such as BIM, GIS and related data management, analysis or visualisation systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant digital engineering standards, strategies and policies, including frameworks such as ISO 19650 and Victorian digital asset requirements.

What next?

To apply – just submit your CV.

No need to submit a separate address of the key selection criteria, and no need for a cover letter. Instead, we like to ask a couple of assessed questions in the application form (200 words max) to get to know you better outside of what is written on your CV.

In this instance the questions are:

  1. Describe your experience leading digital engineering approaches across infrastructure projects. What tools, standards or systems did you use, and what outcomes did you achieve?
  2. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement across internal teams, contractors and delivery partners. Tell us about a time you influenced others to adopt a digital process, standard or new way of working.
  3. Give an example of how you identified and implemented an improvement to a digital engineering process, platform or reporting approach. What was the issue, what action did you take, and what was the result?

After assessing your CV and answers to the above questions, the next steps of the recruitment process might include:

  • a phone screen to learn more about you, and you to learn more about us
  • an interview to understand more about things you have worked on in the past

Please note: the successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which include national police checks and misconduct screening.
