VIDA Health (Victorian Health Building Authority) is responsible for the rollout of the Victorian Government's multi-billion-dollar health capital projects. We're delivering world-class health facilities across Victoria including new public hospitals and emergency care, community health services, ambulance branches, residential aged care and mental health facilities. VIDA Health also provides technical support across engineering, property, asset management and environmental sustainability disciplines. 

 

The Opportunity

 

As Director, Project Safety, you’ll be a senior leader and trusted partner to the executive team, shaping a safety-first culture across Victoria’s major health infrastructure portfolio. You’ll lead the Project Safety function to embed best-practice OHS systems and governance across all VIDA Health projects, from development through to delivery ensuring proactive risk management and legislative compliance. You’ll drive training, monitoring, reporting, auditing, and investigations, and provide clear executive-level advice on critical safety risks, emerging issues, and changing legal requirements.

 

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Driving a safety-first culture by building and influencing senior relationships across VIDA and key partners, ensuring best-practice safety standards and a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Leading the implementation of a robust OHS management system within the VIDA framework, ensuring proactive compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Overseeing contractor incident investigations to drive continuous improvement through corrective actions and organisation-wide learning.

 

We are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Health and safety professional within a high risk industrial, construction, mining or related discipline.
  • Knowledge across the areas of community, health, or welfare sectors would be advantageous.
  • Strong change management capability, with the ability to identify improvement opportunities, build stakeholder buy-in, drive change initiatives and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Strong risk management capability, identifying, assessing and mitigating risks to support successful delivery of organisational outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety, Project Management, Engineering or a related field (desirable)
