About the role
This is a fixed term position for up to five years.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Transport Planning, and based in Melbourne CBD, the Director, Strategic Transport Planning and Integration leads the development and delivery of integrated medium- and long-term transport plans that support the growth of Victoria’s multimodal transport system.
The Director provides strategic leadership to shape transport investment priorities, develop integrated transport policy, and align transport planning with land use, housing and economic development objectives. Leading DTP’s Movement and Place function, the role drives a coordinated, whole-of-network approach to planning for future jobs, housing and transport networks, balancing future infrastructure needs with better utilisation of existing assets. Working closely with Housing, Building and Land Delivery, the Director ensures transport plans are subject to rigorous change control and provides authoritative, evidence-based advice to senior departmental leaders, central agencies and Ministerial Offices.

Uses formal and informal influencing relationships and decision-making processes, ensuring solutions adhere to values, ethics and legal obligations.

Coaches others and engages key stakeholders in strategic planning, thinking at a whole-of-system level to develop a vision for the future.

Provides expert advice and analysis to guide planning decisions that align transport, safety, environmental and placemaking priorities.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:

More than 10 years’ experience leading a high-performing transport planning function (mandatory).

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders in a complex government environment (mandatory).

Relevant qualifications in transport planning and policy reform (desirable).
