About VHBA   

The Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) is responsible for the rollout of the Victorian Government's multi-billion-dollar health capital projects. We're delivering world-class health facilities across Victoria including new public hospitals and emergency care, community health services, ambulance branches, residential aged care and mental health facilities. VHBA also provides technical support across engineering, property, asset management and environmental sustainability disciplines.  

 

The Opportunity 

This new position, Director, Strategy and Insights will lead strategic initiatives to drive reform to align VHBA’s priorities, build and lead a new team, and work closely with the organisation to provide strategic, practical and innovative advice to the CEO and other senior stakeholders at VHBA. This position will also have the opportunity to identify emerging issues and risks across the portfolio and work with their team to find the best solution to drive success across the business.  

 

Key aspects of the role include: 

  • Lead the end-to-end development of high-quality, fit-for-purpose analysis, advice, and solutions on complex cross-portfolio policy issues.  

  • Carry out strategic initiatives commissioned by the CEO and Executive Director to leverage networks and relationships across Victorian Public Service.  

  • Foster a people-centred culture grounded in respect, trust, collegiality, frank and fearless advice, and a ‘no blame’ approach.  

 

We are looking for:  

  • Ability to successfully apply a project management approach to strategic initiatives by developing clear project plans, mobilising resources, and overseeing governance and timelines.  

  • Experienced in developing innovative solutions to complex challenges by leveraging insights from industry, academia, and global best practices by bringing together people and the organisations to co-design effective solutions.  

  • Capability to provide strategic, evidence-based advice that translates complex analysis and insights from government priorities, systems, and stakeholders into clear, implementable, outcomes-focused solutions.
