About the Public Transport Ticketing

The Public Transport Ticketing (PTT) branch operates as a Centre of Excellence for the delivery of the new Statewide public ticketing solution. Our portfolio of Delivery includes Train, Tram and Bus ticketing across the state. PTT works closely and collaboratively with policy, Commercial Advisory and Operational areas throughout the contracting lifecycle to ensure successful delivery of all State side ticketing requirements within the new ticketing solution.

 

About the Role 

This is a fixed term 2 year SES 1 contract

The Director Delivery is a senior leadership position within the Public Transport Ticketing (PTT) branch, responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of the open loop payments system. This includes leading a multidisciplinary team to ensure successful integration, deployment, and operationalisation of the program, while meeting stakeholder expectations, regulatory obligations, and broader departmental objectives.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Public Transport Ticketing, the Director will act as the central authority for all Open Payments activities across the PTT program. The role works closely with internal workstreams and a range of external stakeholders, including vendors, government agencies, and industry partners to ensure seamless implementation. It also encompasses the development of targeted communication and marketing strategies to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in delivering large-scale technology or change programs, preferably within the public transport or payments sectors. A strong track record of leading high-performing teams, advising senior stakeholders, and embedding continuous improvement based on performance insights will be critical. Experience in change management, planning, and performance reporting will also be valued.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in engineering, project management, business or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience working on major change projects and/or technology projects in the public/private sectors, preferabily in transport sector
