About the role
The Enterprise Asset Management Business Application Support Officer plays a key role in supporting the Department of Transport and Planning’s Transport Asset Management (TAM – IBM Maximo) application, a core component of the Victorian Transport Asset Management Platform (VTAMP). Working closely with the Manager, the role provides Level 2 operational support, including managing incidents, troubleshooting system and mobile app issues for field inspectors, and proactively identifying faults across TAM and its integrated systems, including ArcGIS, FME and Autodesk Construction Cloud. The role also assists in maintaining and updating asset information for asset classes within TAM, including classification specifications, road maintenance work types and inspection forms, implementing changes that arise from asset data requirements or updated business processes.
Key Selection Criteria
The role requires strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret guidelines, analyse information and make informed decisions in ambiguous situations. It also demands the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders by tailoring communication and linking ideas to organisational needs, while fostering innovation and continuous improvement to enhance systems, processes and team performance. Technical capability in reporting and applying Asset Management Systems is essential to support assurance, integration and data-driven improvement.

Position accountabilities
DTP is seeking a specialist to provide high-level advice, analysis and corporate support within a complex operational environment. The role addresses specialised issues, delivers expert guidance and contributes to policy and organisational improvements through evidence-based research and analysis.
A strong focus of the position is understanding stakeholder needs and organisational priorities to ensure advice and recommendations are relevant, accurate and strategically aligned. The successful candidate will influence thinking, adapt concepts to new situations and contribute to solutions that may have impact beyond the immediate work area. This includes shaping analysis that informs policy development, enhances performance and supports whole-of-government objectives.
The role offers the opportunity to apply subject-matter expertise in a high-impact setting and contribute to outcomes that support Victoria’s transport system and community. Candidates will demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and the ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical advice that improves organisational capability and decision-making.
Qualifications and experience
· A minimum of five years’ hands-on experience using IBM Maximo (mandatory), with experience in system administration considered advantageous (desirable).
· Experience in designing and developing Power BI reports (mandatory).
· Experience in using SQL for data querying, analysis and troubleshooting (desirable).
· Sound knowledge of ArcGIS, GIS databases, FME, Autodesk Construction Cloud and Maximo linear referencing (desirable).
· Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or significant experience in a similar role (desirable).
