About the role
The Finance Business Partner provides financial advice, analysis and reporting to support budgeting, forecasting, performance monitoring and project financial management. The role ensures financial information is accurate, compliant with government policies, and supports informed decision-making across internal clients.
The position builds strong stakeholder relationships and uses professional judgement to provide insights that improve business performance. It also applies problem-solving skills to enhance financial systems and processes, supports delivery of the Department’s financial strategy, and ensures compliance with the Financial Management Act and relevant government directions. Other duties may be required.

You’re someone who:
- Communicates with impact, presenting information clearly and credibly while handling sensitive or complex conversations effectively.
- Collaborates effectively by fostering teamwork, sharing information across groups and helping resolve barriers to achieve shared outcomes.
- Thinks critically and solves problems by considering broader context, addressing root causes and improving processes for better business outcomes.
- Applies strong financial and commercial acumen to support decision-making, manage risk and ensure value for money in financial and procurement activities.
- Has solid technical finance skills, including financial systems, reporting, budgeting and analysis, with experience using tools such as Microsoft 365 and Oracle.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant or related discipline. (desirable)
- A finance or accounting degree that meets the foundation requirements for entry into the CPA Program. (desirable)
- Membership of CPA or CA. (desirable)
