About the role
The Internal Communications Business Partner works closely with business areas to plan and deliver clear, timely communication about key projects and initiatives. They act as the main link between the Internal Communications team and the wider Department, helping leaders share messages in a way that is easy to understand and engaging. This includes supporting executive messaging, events and staff updates. By building strong relationships and understanding business needs, they help keep employees informed, connected and aligned. Success in this role strengthens staff engagement and supports a positive, well-informed workplace culture.
This role will support two groups: Network, Design and Integration and Housing, Building and Land Delivery. Flexibility is required as this may change over time.

- Can build strong stakeholder relationships, understand their needs, and create mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Can communicate with impact - writing clear messages, tailoring content to different audiences, and advising leaders on tone and approach.
- Can influence and gain buy-in by adapting your style, addressing concerns, and linking ideas to stakeholder priorities.
- Can stay flexible, respond to changing priorities, and work collaboratively across teams to deliver outcomes on time.
- Can work directly with seniors and executives with the ability to influence.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or relevant professional working experience in these fields. (Mandatory)
- Experience working in internal communications in a public sector or government role. (Desirable)
- Experience preparing communications plans in an issues-rich environment. (Desirable)
- Experience writing for Executive and Senior Leaders across a variety of channels. (Desirable)
