About the Role


This role will provide technical advice and services in the areas of survey and road declaration. The incumbent will work closely with the Lead Survey Operations and support land information and road declaration practitioners that provide a broad range of survey and road declaration services to the transport portfolio and whole of Government.
The role is responsible for oversight and execution of a range of survey and road declaration related activities including the undertaking of Cadastral Surveys, the provision of technical advice to DTP/VIDA projects, review and processing of surveys undertaken by internal staff and others, provision of technical advice and maintenance of DTP standards and guidelines and the adherence to safe work practices.
The incumbent will work closely with Survey Operations leadership to deliver survey & declaration services and the management of land and declaration information. The incumbent will be involved in the modernisation of business process, practices and supporting business systems.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities 

–    Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders on surveying and road declaration matters. The role will also be required to undertake and oversee cadastral surveys and related transport survey and road declaration products and services.
–    Improve others’ skills and talents by providing knowledge, constructive feedback, coaching and learning opportunities.
–    Exercise professional independent judgement in the development of quotes and briefs for contractors and monitor and audit contract work to ensure work is carried out to the required standard, timeframe and budget, under limited supervision. In consultation with the Lead Survey Operations, manage the coordination and guidance of other team members in the execution of work activities.
–    Implement change programs in the delivery of surveying services and the management of asset, survey, and land information.
–    Effectively coordinate projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget and to specified, established and recognised work procedures and quality standards. 

 

Technical capabilities 
–    Surveying (Accomplished) - Utilise surveying techniques to collect and analyse spatial data, providing accurate information for land development, mapping and planning


Qualifications and Experience

–    University degree in surveying or geomatics or an equivalent qualification as approved by the Surveyors Registration Board of Victoria. (mandatory)
–    Registration as a Practising Licensed Surveyor in Victoria with the Surveyors Registration Board for Victoria. (mandatory)
–    Experience in the government or transport infrastructure sector. (desirable)

 

Other position-specific requirements
–    Driver’s License 
–    Ability to travel, work and stay overnight across locations within metropolitan and regional Victoria outside normal working hours as reasonably required.   
–    The occupational health and safety requirements of this position may include, but are not limited to:
–    Fieldwork
