About the role
We’re looking for a Manager, Metro Bus Facilities and Franchise to lead the management of metropolitan bus operator contracts and support the delivery of safe, reliable and high-quality bus services across Melbourne.
In this role, you will:
- provide expert contract and commercial advice and ensure bus operators meet their contractual and service obligations
- lead procurement and contract management activities, including negotiations, contract variations and sourcing strategies, to deliver value for money and support network service improvements
- work closely with internal teams, bus operators and key stakeholders to monitor performance, manage risk and drive continuous improvement in service delivery and customer experience
- oversee financial and operational management of facilities, including budgets, maintenance and service requests, ensuring efficient and compliant operations.
This is a key leadership role within the Metro Bus Contracts branch, supporting both day-to-day contract management and longer-term strategic planning for the bus network.

What we're looking for (Selection criteria)
You're someone who has:
- strong experience in contract and commercial management, including negotiating contracts and managing supplier performance
- strong procurement experience, including planning, tendering and delivering sourcing strategies that achieve value for money
- excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across operators, government agencies and internal teams
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage risk, performance and complex service issues
- proven leadership capability, including the ability to guide teams, influence outcomes and manage competing priorities
- strong understanding of public transport, facilities or asset-based service delivery environments
Qualifications and experience
You'll bring:
- a valid driver’s licence (mandatory)
- experience in facilities operations and public-facing service environments (mandatory)
- proven experience in procurement, contract management, contract negotiation and financial/commercial reporting (mandatory)
- a tertiary qualification in commerce, law or a related discipline (desirable)
