The People, Legal and Governance (PLG) Group provides enabling legal, people and corporate functions across the Department, supporting high performance, timely legal services, and integrated operations.
About the role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 27 February 2026
As the Business Services Manager, you’ll support the Deputy Secretary of People, Legal and Governance by leading critical business functions including planning, budgeting, risk, procurement, business continuity, and corporate reporting. Acting as a key advisor and operator, you’ll manage projects and issues that are complex, sensitive and cross-divisional in nature. You’ll also provide strategic advice and act as a point of coordination for business service activities across the wider department.

Position Outcomes
- Lead corporate functions across PLG including finance, records, reporting, procurement, and OHS compliance.
- Improve and manage business systems and procedures to deliver efficient, innovative outcomes.
- Ensure legislative and policy compliance while contributing to strategy and business planning.
- Provide high-quality briefs and support materials to executive stakeholders.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across internal and external networks.
What You’ll Bring
You’re an accomplished business services professional with a strong background in corporate operations, ideally gained in government or similarly complex organisations. You thrive on improving systems, leading cross-functional projects, and building relationships with senior executives. You’ll bring strategic thinking, strong problem-solving skills, and a calm, adaptable mindset.
Mandatory:
- Proven experience in business or corporate services roles working with senior leadership
- Tertiary qualifications in business administration, finance or a related field.

All new appointments to the department will be subject to a National Criminal Records Check, Misconduct Screening, and a Qualification Check where there is a requirement for a mandatory qualification.
