About the role 

This is a Fixed Term Position until 31st December 2027

Job Location: 1 Spring Street, Melbourne
This role leads the ICT Sourcing function, overseeing technology procurement, governance, compliance with VGPB policies, and continuous improvement. It partners with business stakeholders, procurement teams, agencies and government departments to ensure sourcing plans support organisational priorities, budgets and value for money.

Key responsibilities include developing sourcing strategies, managing complex procurements, advising executives, engaging and negotiating with suppliers, monitoring market trends, and managing commercial risks. The role also ensures fair and ethical procurement, provides assurance on sourcing decisions, and leads and develops the sourcing team while promoting collaboration, capability, continuous improvement and high performance.

You’re someone who: 

  • Leads and develops people, builds an engaged, accountable, high-performing team aligned to VPS values and outcomes.
  • Builds strong stakeholder partnerships, understands stakeholder needs and context to achieve shared, practical outcomes.
  • Brings strong commercial acumen, maximises value, manages expenditure and balances commercial, financial and operational risks.
  • Leads strategic procurement and category management, develops sourcing strategies aligned to government priorities, market conditions and organisational objectives.
  • Provides procurement expertise and assurance, applies policy, governance, contract law, market analysis and negotiation skills to deliver compliant, effective sourcing outcomes.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, law, procurement, business or related discipline or equivalent experience (Mandatory)
  • Minimum five years demonstrated expertise in leading strategic sourcing approached for high-value, complex ICT procurement (Mandatory)
  • Experience leading people (Mandatory)
