About the role 

This is an Ongoing fulltime position  

The Manager Rating Taxation role leads a team responsible for delivering statutory property valuations used for taxes and government charges in Victoria. It manages complex and urgent valuations, ensures accuracy and compliance with legislation and oversees quality checks and audit processes. The role supports staff development, workload planning and performance while also contributing to appeals and dispute resolution. It works closely with government agencies, courts and industry stakeholders to provide expert advice. Success ensures fair, reliable valuations, strong public confidence and timely revenue outcomes that support essential government services.

Qualifications and experience 

  • Completion of an appropriate tertiary qualification with Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) status and membership with the Australian Property Institute (API).  

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Valuation of Land Act 1960 and other relevant legislation, Windfall Gains Tax, State Taxation and regulations and standards governing the provision of valuation advice by the Valuer-General (mandatory). 

  • Significant experience in valuations for Rating Authority Valuations in Victoria, and associated valuations for Local Government in Victoria. (essential). 

  • Comprehensive knowledge, experience and proficiency in the use of Victorian Rating Valuation calculation systems such as VMonline (essential). 

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of the local government and government processes and land administration matters in Victoria (essential). 

  • Driver’s License (mandatory)

Relevant pre-employment screening and reference checks will be required. 

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
