About the role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30th of June 2027.
Job Location: 525 Collins Street, Melbourne
The Manager, Road Engineering Standards leads the development, delivery and ongoing maintenance of road engineering standards for the Department of Transport and Planning. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering Standards, the role oversees standards management processes, systems, tools, training and repositories to ensure standards are current, consistent and effectively implemented across the organisation.
The role leads a team of technical specialists to review and improve road standards, deliver agreed work programs and support collaboration across engineering, project and asset management teams. It also contributes to building organisational capability through training and accessible resources, while providing strong people leadership and fostering a safe, inclusive and high-performing team environment.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- Demonstrated industry experience in systems engineering, technical requirements management, risk management or other associated technical practice (desirable).
- Experience with National Standards bodies such as Austroads or similar (desirable).
- Experience in writing and delivering documents such as standards (desirable).
- Experience in applying management plans and/or governance for technical activities (desirable)
