The Network Design and Integration works to deliver transport priorities through the development, delivery and maintenance of an integrated pipeline of projects supporting the Major Transport Infrastructure Program, plan Victoria’s rail network, supports Road Safety Victoria and Freight Victoria.
Road Safety Victoria is a Division within Network Design and Integration, and is responsible for leading the Victorian Government to achieve zero road fatalities by 2050.
About the Role
The Manager Road Safety Data and Insights will support government and senior management to understand road safety problems and develop interventions that reduce road trauma through the utilisation of data and insights.
The role will lead a team of analysts to deliver a work program that will help drive down road trauma through the generation of data and evidence-based insights, oversee data governance including data sharing agreements and privacy requirements, and generate and continuously improve the evidence base available to support road safety research and policy development.
The Manager Road Safety Data and Insights will manage Road Safety Victoria’s Data and Insights functions and apply advanced techniques to combine, interpret, and visualise road safety data and other key resources to generate valuable insights.
The role requires strong people leadership skills to engage and support the immediate team, and to optimise business outcomes by aligning team roles and activity with organisational strategies.
The Manager will be a confident and effective communicator, who can translate complex and technical information into a digestible format for a wide range of audiences, both verbally and in written form.
The role also requires a clear, analytical mind, an inquisitive nature to aid understanding of current and emerging road safety issues and solutions, and a willingness to pursue best practice and innovation to advance road safety data and insights.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

• Strong Relationships – Fostered and maintained effective and collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve mutual objectives.
• High Quality Data Analysis –Effectively overseen and contributed to specialist data collation and analysis undertaken by the team, to inform policy and strategy development.
• Outcomes and Performance Focus – Led the team to deliver and maintain the necessary tools, systems and capability to support Road Safety Victoria and the broader road safety partnership, to understand road safety trends and issues, and monitor ongoing strategic performance against targets.
• Promoted and supported safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.
• In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
• Demonstrated experience with data analysis and generating insights from complex road safety data.
• Demonstrated communications and negotiation skills including the ability to present complex information in a digestible form.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
Desirable
• Tertiary qualification or experience in data science/statistics.
